This summer (August 2016) we ran our first ever online summer camp.
The aim of the camp was to
- help to keep our children’s brains active
- avoid the dreaded summer brain-drain,
- to help parents create a memorable summer,
- to promote family time and to
- help the kids learn new skills.
- decrease screen time
The summer camp was completely virtual. Campers had their own members area at www.summercamp.sholaalabi.com where they had access to ideas and resources of indoor and outdoor activities. Parents were able to plan the week ahead with the downloadable planner. There were weekly interactive live chats where we had a catch-up session to share our wins and get tips on what to do in the weeks to follow. We ended the weekly interactive session with a special talk on getting into routines for the start of the school year. I will talk more about that in one of my next posts.
On a personal note, my family and I had a wonderful time and great feedback has been coming in from the other parents as well. Here are a few photos that our #summersurvivors shared with me.
I appreciate the families that took part this summer and I am already looking forward to next summer’s online camp and hope to use the feedback from this year’s camp to make #survivethesummer2017 even better.
